The Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs (AMCHP) works to advance the health and well-being of women, children, youth, families, and communities by strengthening governmental public health systems and building meaningful community partnerships. Since its founding in 1950, AMCHP has served as a national resource, advocate, and partner for state public health leaders dedicated to improving maternal and child health (MCH).
AMCHP’s diverse membership includes senior state government officials—such as directors of MCH and children with special health care needs programs—as well as family leaders, community-based organizations, academic institutions, and other key partners. Together, they serve families across the country, providing essential education, screenings, and coordinated preventive, primary, and specialty care to support the health of all women, infants, children, and adolescents, including those with special health care needs. Visit our State Title V Profiles to learn more about our members and the work happening in every state.
To support this mission, AMCHP shares best practices, provides technical assistance, advocates at the federal level, convenes public health leaders, and advises states on effective partnerships—all to ensure healthy children, families, and communities nationwide.

Strategic Plan
AMCHP’s five-year strategic plan, AMCHP Future 2027, was developed in collaboration with our Board of Directors and staff. It addresses the evolving challenges within the maternal and child health field and outlines our priorities in supporting members and the communities they serve. This plan serves as a roadmap for our programs, policy work, and member services, grounding our efforts in a shared vision for the future.
